Gluten Free Allergen-Free Holiday Pantry Staples

Living gluten free does not mean we won’t be able to create festive gluten free dishes and treats for the holidays.

With the gluten free products listed here – some “mainstream” and some made specifically for a gluten free diet – we can make many familiar holiday recipes everyone can enjoy.

Of course, keep in mind, just because a product is gluten free doesn’t mean it is healthy or nutritious.

Many pre-made products are filled with excess sugar and questionable food additives.

Always use your best judgment when selecting products to consume on your gluten free diet. Look for healthy alternatives and continue to consume in-season fruits and veggies to maintain healthy balance.

Speaking of healthier alternatives…

In most cases, it’s simple to create these items from scratch. This is one way to eliminate unnecessary additives and to reduce the risk of allergen cross-contamination.

You’ll find links to my tried-and-true recipes under “MAKE YOUR OWN” where they exist.

All of the recipes you’ll find are not only gluten free, but are also free of dairy/casein, soy, tree nuts and peanuts, making them ideal for families with multiple food allergies.

Either way, a happy, delicious gluten free holiday is possible!

Remember:

  • Always read labels carefully, even when you’ve used a product safely before.
  • Be aware of potential cross-contamination. Look for “Contains” or “Allergen Statement” on the label.
  • Keep in mind “natural flavor” and “artificial flavor” may contain wheat or gluten (or other allergens). Do not consume a product unless you are sure what it contains.
  • When in doubt about a product, visit the company website and search for an allergen policy or phone the manufacturer to confirm the safety of ingredients in question.
